Pentecost Latin Mass This Sunday In Berks

12:30pm St. Mary's Church in Reading (250 S 12th St. Reading PA)

Hi everyone, this Sunday at 12:30pm we'll be having our monthly Traditional Latin Mass at St. Mary's in Reading. Below I posted a link to the propers so you can print them out, but we'll also bring some copies.

Confessions will be heard from 11:30 until about 12:15. We'll also be having a potluck after Mass. If you can bring some food, even something small, it would be greatly appreciated. If you don't normally stay after Mass for the social, I'd like to re-invite you to stop by. It's a great time to meet new and interesting people and grow in Christ.

We'll begin setting up for the social and schola practice at noon. Our rosary before Mass begins at 12:10.

In other Catholic news, you’re invited to a Corpus Christi celebration at the Cathedral of St. Catherine of Siena in Allentown on June 22nd. Below I’ve posted a flyer for the event.

In our previous newsletter, we advertised a couple of events of interest by friends associated with our community. Now we can share photos and videos from these events after they took place.

His Excellency Ronald Gainer, Bishop Emeritus of Harrisburg, solemnly celebrated Mass in the traditional Latin rite for the Fourth Sunday after Easter, and gave first holy communion to several children. The Mass, which featured Victoria's Missa O Quam Gloriosum and other choral works, was done in collaboration with the Durandus Institute.

Video from Byzantine Vespers for the 1,700th Anniversary of the Council of Nicaea at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, Philadelphia on May 31

A Great Vespers with Lytia in the Byzantine rite was offered on Saturday evening, May 31--the eve of the Seventh Sunday of Pascha and the Sunday of the 318 Holy & God-bearing Fathers of Nicaea--to commemorate the 1,700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea, which took place in A.D. 325 to formally define the dogma of the Trinity and compose the Nicene Creed, and which we now use at every Sunday Mass ("Credo in unum Deum--I believe in one God"). This event featured a choir of nine men to sing a program of Kievan chant and other arrangements from the eastern tradition in English, Ukrainian, Greek, and Old Slavonic. This event was organized by the Durandus Institute, with additional support from the Christus Vincit Foundation.
